Dr. Edward Lorenz, a meteorologist who somewhat accidentally helped create chaos theory, has passed away.
Lorenz’s “butterfly effect” is best known for its vital influence on Michael Chrichton’s seminal Jurassic Park, but I guess it probably had other important scientific value as well.
