On The Israel Question

This really bugged me last night, so I have to mention it. A veteran in the audience asked McCain and Obama whether they would be willing to commit troops to defend Israel in the event of an Iranian attack, even without international approval.
To put it bluntly, the question makes no sense.
If Iran attacks Israel with [...]

So John McCain, according to his campaign, did accurately lay out his intended policy of giving the silent treatment to NATO member/EU member/American ally Spain.
Perhaps someone should remind McCain that radical Muslim control of Spain ended roughly seven hundred years ago, when the presidential hopeful was in his teenaged years.

OK, the (original English) audio of the interview mentioned below is now available:
The interviewer actually stops McCain to explain that she is referring to Spain, and he keeps right on talking about Latin America.
No wonder the McCain campaign is keeping him away from the American press. He clearly is not fit to be president.

Spain, Venezuela; What’s The Difference?

John McCain wants to fight everyone. Even Spain.
Well, that’s not entirely fair. He doesn’t know who Spain’s leader is, but the guy has a funny name and John McCain’s default position therefore is to fight him.
Read Josh Marshall’s posts on the matter. The TPM crew is having some trouble figuring out precisely what happened due [...]
Sarah Palin Doesn’t Know Anything And Is Terrifyingly Ill-Prepared To Step Into The Oval Office

Seriously, what the fuck are all of these white women who are supposedly supporting her thinking? She sounds exactly how you would expect someone to sound when she slept through the entire semester and spent the last day before the final exam desperately cramming.

John McCain disagrees with Barack Obama on the level of threat represented by Iran. But he also agrees. Maybe. Sorta. A little from Column A, a little from Column B.
“I want to respond briefly to a comment Senator Obama made yesterday about the threat posed to the United States by the government of Iran. Senator [...]

Highly recommended: Spencer Ackerman on Iron Man’s historical relationship to American imperialism.
Ackerman’s essay is a light read for a Friday, but it deals with some important issues. The thesis concerning Iron Man’s central metaphor is certainly arguable, but I both tend to agree with Ackerman and think you might enjoy the essay even if you [...]
I Don’t Know Whether To Call This One Incompetence Or Dishonesty, But Either Way, McCain And Bush Are Jackasses

Last Summer, Senator Obama was quoted as follows:
“I understand that President Musharraf has his own challenges,” Obama said, “but let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a [...]
More Crackpottery From The Old Guy

From today’s big foreign policy address (that will go unanswered by the Democratic candidates, who are too busy kicking each other in the shins to pay attention to St. McCain):
John McCain called for a new “League of Democracies” to strengthen U.S. alliances and advance western values in a speech outlining his foreign policy positions.
“We have [...]
