Signs Winter Break Is Way Too Damned Long

1) I just made the top 500 (#408) scores in one of the Batman: Arkham Asylum combat challenges. That’s the top 500 out of all XBox 360 players of the game, everywhere. It’s a fun game, but spending enough time playing it over the past three weeks to get better at it then all but 407 twelve-year-olds worldwide seems a bit ludicrous.

2) I spent a large chunk of yesterday and today, when I wasn’t playing Batman and going to see Sherlock Holmes (very fun movie, by the way), listening to every single song on Pitchfork’s* list of the top 500 tracks of the decade that I hadn’t heard before. I obviously didn’t listen to them all in their entirety, but I listened to enough to determine whether I wished to acquire each song for my own library. At least this particular endeavor led to me obtaining good music.

*Mandatory defense of my own street cred: I don’t read Pitchfork regularly, but I’m a sucker for end of year/decade music lists, and this one is broad enough to lead me to music I hadn’t previously heard.
