My Weekend Sports Watching

Or: “Things that are depressing.”
1) Maryland (football)’s loss to BC, with the Terps having had a chance to win in the fourth quarter before blowing the game with an interception. Two weeks ago we were in contention to play in the ACC title game. Now we’ll be lucky to go to the Meineke Car Care Bowl.
2) Washington’s loss to the Giants, which wouldn’t normally bother me since I don’t really care about the Redskins, but which was dominated this week by the tributes to Sean Taylor. Sure, there was some black humor involved in the way the team and the television commentators handled the whole thing, but all in all it was hardly uplifting.
3) Maryland (basketball)’s utter destruction at the hands of the Hoyas in a renewal of the rivalry so fierce the two teams refuse to meet unless forced to do so by independently run tournaments.
And, to top it all off, my fantasy football team, already in the midst of a stupendously mediocre season, will lose to the league’s last place team if Jacksonville quarterback David Gerrard has a good game in Monday Night Football tonight.

It could be worse. You could be a Bengals or Browns fan.
Or have Brad’s fantasy team….
Ouch. But true…
Wait, isn’t your team 10-3, having clinched a playoff spot?
Oh, no wait, that’s mine. Yeah, your team sucks… as does Brad’s… and Sean’s.
