Two Pictures, Two Big Numbers, No Game Changers For John McCain

From the weekend:
1) 100,000 people showed up to see Barack Obama in St. Louis. It doesn’t really mean anything, but it sure makes me feel good about where this campaign is going, and it sure makes for an awesome picture:
2) $150,000,000. Sweet Jebus, that’s incredible. Almost two million individuals contributed to that total, and several hundred thousand of those donated to Obama for the first time. All of these people donated money to a political campaign at a time when most of them are terrified by the state of our economy. We’ve never seen an election like this one before.
3) You may recall that I’ve already said how I would feel about Colin Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama. I do feel that way now that the endorsement has happened, but Powell managed to mitigate a lot of my anger towards him with a much needed moment of passionate defense for Muslim Americans. Very well done, General.
It was a pretty good weekend for Barack Obama. By definition, that means it was a bad weekend for John McCain. Only fifteen days to go.
