A foolish teenager in India was cleaning an aquarium when he decided to use the bathroom – WHILE STILL HOLDING A SMALL FISH IN HIS HAND. The fish swam into his penis and was eventually removed from his bladder by doctors.
An Australian woman was trapped in her home for several hours by a large, hungry pig. The pig – strong enough to bite a broomstick in half – has been pulling her flowers out by the roots and eating all her potatoes. She’s called the authorities, who plan to capture the pig and take it to a local “piggery.” Meanwhile, much cuter Australian pigs are starring in a racing and diving exhibition this week at the Royal Melbourne Show.
Nyac, the Vancouver Aquarium’s Cutest Otter Ever, has died at the ripe old age of 20. Her hand-holding antics will be sorely missed. The keeper of Knut, the Cutest Polar Bear Ever, also died this week of an apparent heart attack.
An elephant escaped from a Mexican zoo, wandered onto a busy highway, and was struck by a bus. Both the elephant and the bus driver died. Mexican officials seized 12 animals from the zoo; the two Asian elephants and 10 Siberian tigers were not properly contained and were in danger of escaping. Mexico seems dangerous: last year a lion escaped from a local legislator’s private zoo, killing two dogs and a pig and attacking two people before it was captured.
Scientists think they can recreate an extinct species of Galapagos tortoise through cross-breeding living relatives. Can Jurassic Park be far behind?
Two baby orangutans and a lion cub have fallen ill after being fed contaminated Chinese milk. Safety regulations, please.
Finally, even though they sometimes get stuck in car engines, I want to be a kitten, too.
