Take That, Maryland
Posted on September 19, 2008 by andrew
Jake Tapper writes up some sort of “gaffe” in which Joe Biden says that he likes his alma mater’s football team better than Ohio State’s football team. Alright, I guess.
Here’s why it caught my eye:
The Buckeyes might be coming off a 35-3 drubbing at the hands of top-ranked Southern Cal, but the Blue Hen ballers aren’t exactly world-beaters themselves. Delaware is ranked sixth in the Division I-AA coaches poll, but they lost earlier this month to Maryland.
Aced, Maryland! We’re so bad that you can prove Delaware is bad not by the fact that they’re a Div I-AA team, but by the fact that they lost to a Div I-A team as bad as Maryland.
I’d be annoyed, except that the argument is objectively true.

I like the “they’re only ranked 6th NATIONALLY” part…Division I-AA (a) doesnt exist anymore, and (b) has approximately a trillion teams. Also, Delaware went to the finals of their playoffs last year, meaning they have been one of the top 2-3 teams in the “Football Championship Subdivision” for a few years now. They also produced a QB who was drafted in the first round last year and is currently starting for his NFL team. OVER A GUY FROM OHIO STATE.
Also, Maryland is bad, but they did beat California, who if I’m not mistaken, hasn’t lost to USC by 32 points in the last two years combined.
