Volunteers from the Shanghai Animal Protection Association released about 800 cats from cat dealers, who planned to raise the cats and sell them for food.

Sadly, the panda born in Japan last week has died. Poor little cub didn’t even live long enough to be cute. The panda population remains stable, though, as there is a new baby at Zoo Atlanta. The cub is in guarded condition after a health scare on Monday, but has been reunited with his mother.
The two black-footed ferrets born at the National Zoo in June were the product of nine-year-old frozen sperm. Points to WTOP for breaking the news. Bonus points for using a sweet pun.

Finally, EEEEEEK!! Snakeheads are terrifying! The carnivorous fish can apparently survive for up to four days on land and occasionally come in nests of 167. Forget vampires; snakeheads will be featured in all my nightmares from here on out.
