A brave rabbit saved its owners from a fire. In another kind of rescue, a golden retriever plays mom to three abandoned white tiger cubs. Finally, cats may relieve their owners of bad moods.

The recession is rough on animals, too. A 44-pound cat was abandoned by his owner when her house was foreclosed upon. Sadly, he’s not alone. Another effect: animal theft appears to be on the rise. (The new owners of the million-dollar red cow had better beware.)

UPDATE: How did I miss this?! The man arrested for growing marijuana plants in Rock Creek Park was found out by a turtle. Animals sure are great.
