EW’s list of “The 100 best albums from 1983 to 2008″ is the worst music-based list of “The [X] best [whatever] from [given time period]” ever produced. Agree or disagree1?

  1. Keep in mind that a Green Day album is #6 while Nevermind is completely omitted. Oh, also (and clearly I’m focusing on the music I know well, but I’m sure equally valid criticisms exist for the selections chosen from other genres), “78. Vs. Pearl Jam (1991)”? Vs. was released in 1993; the 1991 debut album was entitled Ten. Did anyone bother to even proofread this crapfest?

    I’d mostly agree, although Rolling Stone usually manages to mess up when they do these lists as well. For every jaw droppingly awful selection on the list there seemed to be something decent and slightly surprising on the list… EW exists on a strange plane in between loving pop trash and embracing critical snobbery.
