All News Is Good News

There is a running bitter “joke” that the establishment political press will find a way to spin any news, no matter how seemingly bad for Republicans or good for Democrats, as good news for the Republicans. While I can’t recall specific examples at the moment, I distinctly remember multiple bloggers making this joke following the win of Childers in Mississippi on Tuesday and the ensuing public cries of certain doom from congressional Republicans. Of course, there’s a reason I put the word “joke” in those scare-quotes at the beginning of this post.

You heard it from the New York Times’ Carl Hulse first: Losing a House seat in what was assumed to be a safe Republican district is good news for Republicans.
