I think Creep has to be just about the last Radiohead song I would expect Prince to cover. If Prince genuinely likes Radiohead, wouldn’t you expect him to like their more unusual stuff? And if he was just trying to play a big arena rock song, wouldn’t you expect him to pick a song from a band better known for big arena rock? Of course, maybe that was exactly the point; the only way for Prince to defy my expectations while covering a Radiohead song was if he covered their most radio-friendly mainstream hit.
Anyway, the performance isn’t an instant classic or anything, but it’s certainly interesting.
